NEW DELHI: The counting of votes for the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is currently underway, with early trends favoring the Congress party. Congress is leading in both states as the vote count progresses. Voting began at 8 am and is expected to conclude by noon. Both Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir have 90-member assemblies.

In Haryana, the main contest is between the BJP, which has been in power for a decade and the Congress, which is attempting to stage a comeback. In Jammu and Kashmir, following the abrogation of Article 370, the primary battle is between the Congress-National Conference alliance and the BJP.

Exit polls indicate a possible victory for Congress in Haryana, while a hung assembly has been predicted in Jammu and Kashmir.
