T P Madhavan, who went to Haridwar wishing a monastic life and away from the hustle and bustle of cinema, suffered a stroke there. The sanyasis of Haridwar and others took him to the hospital and treated him and when he could almost walk, sent him back home. He reached Thiruvananthapuram and led a miserable life in a lodge and finally reached Gandhi Bhavan. He reached Gandhi Bhavan on February 28 in 2016.

TP recovered after long treatment from Gandhi Bhavan. Although away from the hustle and bustle of cinema, he was active in many venues related to Gandhi Bhavan. Participated in many public programes at different places. An avid traveller, TP would always join Gandhi Bhavan founder and secretary Punalur Somarajan's journeys with the curiosity of a young child. He loved spending time with the children and other inmates of Gandhi Bhavan. Since his arrival at Gandhi Bhavan, he has received the Ramu Karyat Award, the Prem Naseer Award and the Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair Award. After coming to Gandhi Bhavan, he acted in one film and two television serials.

He entered the film industry at the age of 40 and has acted in more than 600 films and more than 30 TV serials during his four-decade film career. He was born as the eldest son of Dr N Parameswaran Pillai, an author and dean of foreign universities and Meenakshikutty AMMA on November 7 in 1935 in Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, he also started his own advertising company in Bangalore.

TP, who was very interested in singing and acting since his childhood, was the main attraction in Malayalee organizations in Bombay, Calcutta and Bangalore where he worked. He entered the film industry by acting in the film 'Priya' directed by actor Madhu. Later acted in many films. In 1983, TP also produced the film 'Ana' directed by Chandrakumar. When the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) was formed, TP was its first general secretary and served the post for ten consecutive years.

Leaves without fulfilling his wishes…
He left without fulfilling his two main wishes. His first wish was to meet his son and the other was to meet Mohanlal. Although this wish was expressed many times and the Gandhi Bhavan authorities tried to fulfil it, it was not possible.

TP Madhavan's body is presently kept in the mortuary of Kollam N S Hospital. There will be a public darshan at Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan tomorrow from 9 am to 1 pm. He will be laid to rest at Shanthikavadam in Thiruvananthapuram at 5 pm.
