THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cyber fraud gang is now targeting the bank accounts of men and women. The Kerala Police has warned that people, including students who are looking for part-time/online jobs on social media, are falling into the trap of cyber fraud gangs.

The modus operandi of the fraudsters is to provide jobs to those who have a bank account and Google Pay account. The account holder can take a commission when the money transferred to their accounts crosses Rs 1 lakh and send the remaining amount to the account demanded by the fraudsters. The fraudsters are offering a higher commission for this. The aim of the fraudsters is to use the accounts of people, including students, as a mule account (rental account) for cyber frauds. Men and women who are not aware of such crimes unknowingly become members of the gang.

Parents, teachers and the general public should be on high alert so that children do not fall into the trap of such cyber fraud gangs. Don't allow any stranger to transfer money through our account. The police have warned that if such online financial frauds are noticed, the information should be reported immediately in 1930. There is a high chance of recovery of the lost amount if reported as early as possible. The complaint can be registered on the website www.cybercrime.gov.in.
