Two from Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested in Baba Siddique death case

MUMBAI: Police suspect underworld don Lawrence Bishnoi is behind the shooting of former Maharashtra minister and NCP Ajit Pawar faction leader Baba Siddique. The investigation is proceeding in that way. Police said Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, arrested in connection with the murder, are members of the Bishnoi gang. They have admitted this during interrogation. A search is on for the third involved in the gang.

They have been constantly monitoring Baba Siddique for the past one month. However, the police have not fully believed what the arrested said. Suspecting that this is a contract killing, the police have entrusted four special teams for investigation. Central agencies are also investigating.

It was earlier clarified that Bishnoi was behind the assassination attempt on Bollywood star Salman Khan. Baba Siddique is very close to Salman. Whether this is behind the murder is suspected. Sources said Baba Siddique had earlier informed that he had received death threats. However, the police said that Siddique did not inform them about the threat.

Lawrence Bishnoi, accused in several criminal cases, is presently in Gujarat jail, but there were reports of his gang threatening businessmen for ransom. There were reports that Bishnoi was behind the murder of rapper Sidhu Moose Wala and a Delhi-based gym owner.

Baba Siddique was shot dead last night at Bandra in Mumbai. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai with serious injuries, but died later. The accused arrived in an auto and fired at him thrice. He was injured in the chest and abdomen. He was shot near his son’s office.

Baba Siddique was in the congress earlier and later joined Ajit Pawar faction of Nationalist Congress Party. From 2004 to 2008, he was the Minister of Food Supply Department. He was MLA from Bandra in 1999, 2004 and 2009 Maharashtra assembly elections.
