Actor Baiju arrested for drunken driving accident, crashes into scooter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Baiju was arrested by the Museum Police after causing a late-night accident at Vellayambalam Junction while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred around 11:45 pm when Baiju, driving at high speed, hit a two-wheeler at the junction. The actor was en route to his home near Police Headquarters with his daughter when the accident took place.

According to reports, Baiju was trying to turn his vehicle around a barricade set up for road construction when he collided with the two-wheeler. His car also struck two posts—one on the traffic island and another nearby—before coming to a stop.

Following the accident, the police responded swiftly, with officers from the control room arriving at the scene. The injured two-wheeler rider was immediately transported to the General Hospital for treatment. Baiju and his daughter were subsequently taken to the Museum Police Station.

Tensions escalated at the scene as Baiju allegedly argued with the police and bystanders over the circumstances of the accident. When taken to the hospital for a medical examination, the actor refused to provide a blood sample for testing. However, the attending doctor noted a strong smell of alcohol during the examination and included this observation in the medical report.

A case has been registered against Baiju under multiple sections for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident. The actor was later released on bail pending further investigation.
