THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A human skeleton was found in a deserted area near the Punnakulam stream in Kottukal Gram Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram. According to the preliminary conclusion of the police, the skeleton belongs to Krishnankutty (60), who went missing from the Vizhinjam station limits two and a half months ago.

Police and forensic experts conducted an investigation at the site and found a skull and other skeletal remains. Additionally, a green shirt and pants were recovered from the location. An Aadhaar card belonging to Krishnakutty was found in the pocket of the shirt, leading police to confirm that the skeletal remains were likely those of Krishnakutty.

The skeleton was found at around 3 pm on Saturday. It was the employment guarantee scheme workers who discovered the skeleton while cleaning the surroundings of the Punnakkulam stream. Following this, Punnakkulam Ward Member Sreelatha Devi arrived at the spot and informed the Vizhinjam Police.

The skeleton, including a skull, was found under a tree in a remote and deserted area. The police are of the conclusion that Krishnankutty might have hanged himself from the nearby tree. A plastic rope was found tied to a large branch of the tree. Police have collected remains including the rope from the spot. A case has been registered on the incident. The body will be handed over to the relatives after DNA analysis.
