Accused monitored victim's house, waited for the time when no one else was at home; committed crime after meticulous planning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A shocking incident of premeditated violence has shaken the Mangalapuram region, near Thiruvananthapuram. Disturbing tales of premeditated cruelty are coming out hours after the police arrested the accused hailing from Kollam. The accused, Kottiyam native Baiju and Paravur native Jikko Shaji, reached the area for cable works. The duo brutally assaulted the 20-year-old woman after meticulous planning.

The accused had arrived in the locality for cable works two days before the incident. After noticing the woman, they started looking for an opportunity to go to her house and sexually abuse her. Both the accused have criminal backgrounds. The police said that Jikko Shaji is an accused in five other cases. The woman's parents had gone out to work on the day of the incident. Only the woman and her brother were at the house.

Upon noticing the brother go out of the house, the accused barged into the house and sexually assaulted the woman. When she started screaming and making noise, they gagged her with a cloth. The woman somehow managed to escape and ran into a nearby house, It was only then that the outside world came to know about it. Following this, the neighbours informed the police about the incident. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.

It is said that the culprits had previously visited the vicinity of this house for work-related purposes. They monitored the house, waiting for a time when no one was home, before striking. The accused fled the scene soon after the woman escaped from them. However, they were nabbed by the police at night.
