Fireworks storage area catches fire in Nileshwaram; several people injured, many in critical condition

KASARGOD: Several people were injured in an accident caused by a fire that broke out in the fireworks storage area during the Theyyamkettu Mahotsavam at Anjootambalam Veererkavu in Nileshwaram. Many people are said to be in critical condition. The accident occurred at around 12 am during the "Kulichu Thottam" ritual of the Moovalamkuzhi Chamundi Theyyam. It is believed that sparks from the fireworks ignited the fire. The injured were admitted to Kanhangad district hospital and various private hospitals in Nileswaram and Kanhangad.

Out of this, three seriously injured people were admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Many people are being shifted to private hospitals in Mangalore.
