NEW DELHI: India has conveyed its strong protest to Canada for dragging in Union Home Minister Amit Shah's name into the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case. India also warned that such remarks by Canada forgetting its own responsibilities will only negatively affect the relationship between the two countries. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has warned Canada that such remarks will invite serious consequences.
Yesterday, India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned a Canadian High Commission representative to express protest and issue a warning regarding Canadian Minister David Morrison's baseless allegations against Home Minister Amit Shah during a parliamentary committee meeting in Ottawa on October 29, 2024. India strongly conveyed its protest against these allegations and submitted a note regarding the committee.
It was international news agencies that reported that Canada had accused Indian Home Minister Amit Shah of being involved in a conspiracy targeting Sikh separatists in Canada. This accusation comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that India was involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Canadian Prime Minister's statement had strained the relationship between India and Canada.
