Anto Joseph should be removed from the post of head of cultural organisation; Sandra Thomas criticises Congress

KOCHI: Film producer and actress Sandra Thomas has come down heavily on the Congress. In a Facebook post, Sandra Thomas said that the state leadership of the Indian National Congress was not ready to take a feminist stand to remove Anto Joseph, who was named as an accused in the case she had given, from the post of leader of the cultural organisation of the Congress. Sandra added that this is an insult to the women's community in Kerala.

"When by-elections are being held in three constituencies in Kerala, the Congress candidates in two constituencies are women and that is welcome. In this context, the Congress leadership should set an example by excluding the accused Mr Anto Joseph from the leadership of the cultural organisation. Otherwise, the women's community in Kerala will look at the feminist stand of the opposition parties only with suspicion," Sandra Thomas wrote on Facebook. Sandra Thomas had levelled serious allegations against producer Anto Joseph the other day.

Are the opposition organisations also silent?

It is an insult to the women's community in Kerala that the state leadership of the Indian National Congress is not ready to take a feminist stand to replace Anto Joseph, who was named as an accused in the case filed by me, from the post of the leader of the cultural organisation of the Indian National Congress, the main party in the opposition front, that had given notice for an adjournment motion on women's safety in the film industry in the Hema Committee report in the last assembly session.

When by-elections are being held in three constituencies in Kerala, the Congress candidates in two constituencies are women and that is welcome. In this context, the Congress leadership should set an example by excluding the accused Mr Anto Joseph from the leadership of the cultural organisation. Otherwise, the women's community in Kerala will look at the feminist stand of the opposition parties only with suspicion. Therefore, it is requested that the Congress leadership should immediately intervene in the matter and remove Anto Joseph from his post and set an example.
