Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning likely in three districts in coming hours, yellow alert issued in eight districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts in the next three hours. IMD said that strong winds with speeds of up to 40 kmph are also likely to prevail.

Yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram district today. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts today and in Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts tomorrow. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted. IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain accompanied by lightning at isolated places in Kerala till November 17.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has clarified that there will be no hindrance to fishing along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep today. Strong winds with speeds reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph are likely along and off the south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyak
