THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Crime Branch said that it has obtained evidence to prove that fake identity cards were made for the Youth Congress organizational election. The evidence was obtained during the forensic examination of the laptop seized from the accused. It was also found that bogus voting was done using the identity cards of 34 people.

The case, which was initially investigated by the Museum police, was handed over to the Crime Branch in January. A case was also registered on the complaint of the Election Commission. According to the police, the fake cards were made using the app 'CR Card'. There are seven accused in the case.

The accused made fake ID cards after downloading identity card information from the website of the Election Commission. The registration was completed by uploading these cards to the Youth Congress election website using a laptop.
