HAGUE: The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The court said the action was taken in the context of human rights violations that have continued in Gaza for a year. The court alleged that the people of Gaza were suffering by preventing the delivery of essential goods such as food, water and medical assistance to the citizens, causing the death of many people, including children.
Earlier, the ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan had submitted a request for an arrest warrant on May 20. Israel had rejected Karim Khan's request for an arrest warrant.
The Hague-based International Criminal Court issued the arrest warrants on Thursday. The court has also issued an arrest warrant against Hamas leader Muhammad Diab Ibrahim al-Masrikar, also known as Muhammad Deif. He is the military commander of Hamas and led the Israeli attack on October 7. Arrest warrants were issued against the three in the context of conflicts in the Middle East.
