THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A teacher and a helper have been suspended in the incident where a three-and-a-half-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling in an anganwadi. Maranallur 8th ward anganwadi teacher Shubhalakshmi and helper Latha have been suspended. Vaiga, the daughter of Maranallur natives Ratheesh and Sindhu, was seriously injured after falling in the anganwadi. The child is currently undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital.
The incident took place on Thursday. As usual, Ratheesh brought the twins home from the anganwadi. Vaiga was very tired. Soon, the child started vomiting non-stop. Vaiga's twin brother also studies in the same anganwadi. The brother told his parents that Vaiga fell from the window in the afternoon.
When the mother checked, she noticed that the back of Vaiga's head was bruised. The child was immediately admitted to Kandala Hospital and Thiruvananthapuram SAT. The doctors informed that the child's spinal cord was seriously injured. There is internal bleeding in the head.
The parents had asked the teacher about the incident. Her reply was that the child had fallen from the chair and forgot to tell the parents about it. She also said that the child did not have any health problems while at the Anganwadi. There are a total of six children in the Anganwadi operating in Maranallur panchayat.
