KOLLAM: A woman, who was travelling in a car with her friend, was set on fire by her husband. Anila, a native of Thazhuthala in Kottiyam, Kollam, was set on fire by her husband Padmarajan after pouring petrol on her. Soni, who was with Anila in the car, sustained serious burn injuries. The incident took place at Chammamukku in Kollam. The incident took place around 9 pm near the railway station in the city.
Anila, a bakery owner, and Soni, an employee, were in the car. Her husband Padmarajan was taken into custody by Kollam East police. According to the police, Padmarajan had targeted another man and Anila. Padmarajan's target was Anila's partner in the bakery business. However, it was the employee who was with Anila in the car. Kollam East police said that further investigation is needed in the incident and the accused will be questioned in detail.
The car was completely destroyed in the attack. The accused chose an isolated place to attack his wife. Padmarajan, who arrived in an Omni van, stopped the van across Anila's car. After this, he poured petrol inside the car and set it on fire. Both vehicles were destroyed in the fire. Efforts were made to douse the fire after the fire force reached the spot.
Anila, who suffered severe burn injuries, was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. According to the police, it was family issues that led to the murder.
