Central team arriving to check flood situation, state seeks extension of moratorium

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An expert team from the centre will reach Kerala to examine the flood situation in the state. The centre will take a stand in giving financial aid to the state after the team examines the situation. However, it is not sure when they will arrive.

Meantime, the state government has asked the center to extend the moratorium announced for the repayment of loans in the wake of floods. The state has requested to extend the moratorium announced in 2018 for one more financial year. The state has asked center to take a decision on restructuring of non-agricultural loans, informed Minister Kadakampally Surendran in New Delhi. The minister also asked center to permit them to take a loan of Rs 1,000 crore from NABARD.
