KOCHI: Two police officers arrested for their alleged links to sex racket at Kadavanthra in Kochi have been suspended. The two arrested are assistant sub inspector Ramesh of Kochi Traffic and Brijesh Lal of Palarivattom Police Station. It was found that they were involved in running the brothel in Kadavanthra and following that the two were arrested.

The two police officers were working as benami in the operation of the brothel. Documents showing that the operators paid ASI Ramesh nearly Rs 9 lakh have been seized. It is also clear that the police had provided assistance to the brothel and this led to their arrest.

In a search at a lodge in Kadavanthra last October, a man and a woman, who were agents for immoral activities, were arrested. When they were questioned, it became clear that the policemen were the ones who were generating income by running the brothel. In an investigation conducted, the police got evidence for their involvement in running the brothel. Both were taken into custody and after interrogation, their arrests were recorded last evening.
