Uma Thomas to continue in ventilator, health condition improves a bit, says Minister P Rajeev

KOCHI: Minister P Rajeev said the health condition of Uma Thomas MLA, who met with an accident during the dance performance yesterday, has improved a bit. The MLA fell during the inaugural function of the Guinness World Records programme at Kalur Stadium and was in a critical condition. The minister while addressing the press said that action will be taken if there any lapses from the side of the organisers. Hibi Eden MP was also with the minister.


Minister’s words
Uma Thomas is presently undergoing a CT scan. A decision will be taken on whether there should be a change in her treatment after getting the results of the CT Scan. A medical team led by superintendent of Kottayam Medical College had reached. They want to continue the present treatment. She is a bit improving. The doctors will inform about her health condition after the scan.

Treatment for the lung is presently in progress. Doctors said it will take some time and best treatment is given. She is presently on ventilator. This should continue for some time.

A serious investigation should be conducted into the incident. Police investigation is continuing. Strict action will be taken against the organizers if any lapses are found from their side. Complaints are being raised that they have collected money from the dancers in the name of Guinness record. They can also file a police complaint.

Meantime, the police have registered a case against the organizers of the dance programme. The Palarivattom police have registered a case against Mridanga Vision and the stage builders. The case was filed for erecting a stage dangerously posing threat to lives.

Uma Thomas MLA fell from a height of 14 feet and sustained serious injuries. Her ribs were fractures and sustained lung injuries. The doctors of Kochi Renai Medicity had earlier informed that she also suffered injuries to her brain and spinal cord. Consciousness, reaction and memory are affected. The doctors also said that the injuries she sustained will not heal quickly.
