MALAPPURAM: Police have besieged the residence of DMK leader and Nilambur MLA PV Anvar for his involvement in vandalizing the forest office in Nilambur. A case has been registered against 11 people including the MLA in this incident. The case is under sections including obstruction of duty, and destruction to public property. It is reported that the MLA will be arrested soon.
A large police force, under the leadership of Nilambur CI Sunil Pallikal, are stationed outside the residence of the MLA. Many DMK workers were also present in the area while DySP Balakrishnan reached the spot and entered the house amidst a big protest.
The DMK workers protested at the Nilambur Forest office against the death of a youth, trampled by a wild tusker. The protest was led by Anvar MLA. The protest later turned violent which saw the DMK workers vandalizing the office property. Meanwhile, DMK leader E A Suku responded that the MLA would surrender.
