KALPETTA: Wayanad DCC Treasurer NM Vijayan's suicide note is out. Four letters were found. According to reports, the letter contains serious remarks against MLA IC Balakrishnan and Wayanad DCC president ND Appachan.
The letters were written to KPCC president K Sudhakaran and contained matters related to financial transactions. According to reports, NM Vijayan says in the letter that he has sacrificed half a century of his life for the party and the Congress MLA asked him to accept money.
The letter states that the money was taken with the knowledge of the leadership, but the leaders abandoned him when there was a problem. According to a media report, the letter says that the party leadership is responsible for whatever happens to him.
Meanwhile, IC Balakrishnan demanded that the handwriting in the letter, which is said to be that of NM Vijayan, be verified. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala responded that there is doubt in the letter and CPM is playing politics. IC Balakrishnan is an honest leader, Chennithala added.
Vijayan and his mentally challenged son Gijesh were found inside the house on December 24 in a critical condition from poisoning. They attempted suicide by consuming insecticide when the family went to the temple. Both died while undergoing treatment. CPM had alleged that Vijayan committed suicide due to financial burdens. The letter came out after this.
The police found that Vijayan had a financial liability of one crore rupees in two banks. An investigation is ongoing to track how this liability happened. The investigation team sought information from 14 banks for this.
Shaji, a native of Ambalavayal, had lodged a complaint with the district police chief against Vijayan's associates regarding bank recruitment bribery. It was alleged that former president KK Gopinathan was paid three lakhs for a job in the Bathery Agriculture and Rural Development Bank. Congress leaders CT Chandran and KM Varghese signed as witnesses in the complaint.
