KOCHI: Businessman Boby Chemmannur, who was arrested and remanded in the sexual harassment complaint of actress Honey Rose, has been shifted to Kakkanad District Jail. Boby, who exhibited signs of physical discomfort immediately after hearing the Ernakulam Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court's decision to deny him bail, was taken to the Kakkanad District Jail only after his health was confirmed to be stable following an examination at the General Hospital. He has been remanded for 14 days. Boby has approached the High Court seeking bail.
After being denied bail by the court, Boby Chemmanur reportedly appeared dejected in the court. His blood pressure shot up and he showed signs of physical discomfort. He was allowed to rest briefly in the courtroom before being taken to the General Hospital for a medical examination. Meanwhile, supporters of Boby protested against the decision and even tried to stop the police convoy.
Boby was remanded for 14 days. The police had registered a case against Boby under non-bailable sections. Senior advocate B Raman Pillai appeared in the court for Boby.
The prosecution argued that Boby had committed a serious mistake. If he was granted bail now, it would be like encouraging such crimes. There is proof that the accused repeatedly abused the complainant. Honey Rose had clearly expressed her hostility towards his bad behaviour. The prosecution argued that Bobby had touched her with malicious intent.
However, the accused told the court that false propaganda was being circulated against him and that he had not touched her as she mentioned in the complaint. The complainant is active on social media and news. So, she was invited to the publicity of his jewellery store. Boby's lawyer argued that what he said was misinterpreted during the inaugural function. Boby had responded to the media in court that he had done nothing wrong to apologize.
