Death of N M Vijayan; relief for congress leaders, no arrest till Jan 15, says court

SULTAN BATHERY: The court has stayed the arrest of the accused in the suicide case of Wayanad DCC treasurer N M Vijayan and his son Jijesh. The Principal Sessions Court has given a verbal order not to arrest the accused till January 15.

The order was issued while considering the anticipatory bail plea of the accused. The court also directed the police to produce the case diary next Wednesday. The detailed hearing will be on January 15.

The first accused in the case and Sultan Bathery MLA I C Balakrishnan and the second accused and DCC president N D Appachan approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. His lawyer responded that the MLA is not absconding and will cooperate with the investigation.

The lawyer also clarified that the MLA has not received a notice to appear for questioning. The third accused is former DCC treasurer K K Gopinath. The case has been registered against the late former DCC president P V Balachandran as the fourth accused.
