THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The prosecution stood firm in its demand that Greeshma, the accused in the Parassala Sharon murder case, should be given a death sentence. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court convened at 11 AM to hear arguments in the case. The case was initially postponed briefly and taken up again at 11:15 AM. At 11:20 AM, the judge called Greeshma into chambers to question her directly.

Special Public Prosecutor V Vineeth Kumar began presenting the prosecution’s arguments, emphasizing the brutality of the crime and the accused’s malicious intent.

Key arguments by the prosecution

  • Greeshma manipulated Sharon’s trust and love to commit murder, betraying him deeply.
  • Sharon trusted Greeshma completely.
  • Greeshma invited him to her house with the intent to kill and later administered a poisoned herbal concoction to ensure his death.
  • Only someone with a cruel and criminal mindset could commit such an act. This was no accident.
  • Greeshma, being an educated individual, misused her knowledge for criminal purposes.
  • The young victim, Sharon, also had dreams and aspirations.
  • Sharon endured excruciating pain for 11 days. The poison had severely damaged his body, from his tongue to his anus, causing internal bleeding, including from private parts.
  • Greeshma tried to divert the investigation to escape punishment.
  • The accused does not deserve any compassion or sympathy
  • It is the rarest of rare cases and the accused should be given capital punishment

Defence Arguments
The defence, represented by advocate Sastamangalam Ajith Kumar, argued that Sharon and Greeshma’s relationship was toxic. Greeshma wanted to end the relationship, but Sharon refused, leading to the tragic outcome. The defence claimed that Sharon had blackmailed Greeshma. He allegedly took her to hotels, shot photos of them together, including on a bed, and stored them on his phone. Greeshma, however, had not taken or kept any photos. Sharon reportedly told Greeshma, "If I can’t have you, no one else should," which pushed her to the edge.

The defence argued that Greeshma had no prior criminal record, whereas Sharon had a history of antisocial behaviour. The defence urged the court to reconsider awarding the death penalty and to show leniency in sentencing.
