KOCHI: Police arrested three people for using Perumbavoor Municipality toilet for immoral trafficking. Johnny, the toilet operator, and two women, were arrested. One of them is a young woman from Assam.
The toilet which was divided into three rooms was rented out by Johnny to clients for upto Rs. 1,500, of which Rs. 300 was his commission.
This was committed in the toilet of Perumbavoor Yathrinivas. The investigation was based on a tip-off received by police. The investigation team consisted of Inspector T.M. Sufi, S.I. Rins M. Thomas, and Senior CPOs Pradeep, Bindu, and Jins.
Perumbavoor is the place where the largest number of migrant workers live in Kerala. Incidents of gangs involving migrant workers engaging in immoral activities in this area have been increasing recently. Many women have also come to Kerala from other states in the guise of being a family member of migrant workers.
Locals have complained that many such gangs are operating here. They first rent a house and live like a family. Afterwards they engaging in immoral activities. It is becoming increasingly common for young women to come to Kerala for prostitution, even from Bangladesh, under the guise of being a migrant worker.
