THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K N Balagopal announced in the state budget that new IT parks will be set up in Kollam, Kottarakkara and Kannur. The IT park project will be launched on the basis of an agreement to be signed between KIIFB, KINFRA and Kollam Corporation. The first phase of the park is expected to be completed in 2025 - 2026.
This will be implemented as a revenue-generating project by acquiring land for the development of local self-government bodies. This is a pilot project that gives confidence. An IT Park will be set up on the land of the Kallada Irrigation Project campus located at Ravi Nagar in Kottarakkara. This IT park will have a buildup area of 97,370 square feet with state-of-the-art facilities.
Based on the success of these guidelines, a detailed program will be prepared to implement 100 new infrastructure development projects in the next two years by utilizing the unused land of departments, public sector undertakings and local self-government bodies. These are being announced as part of the revenue-generating projects planned by KIIFB.
The IT park will be set up on 25 acres with an area of five lakh square feet near Kannur airport. Rs 293.22 crore has been sanctioned for this from KIIFB. The state government has given approval for the project.
