PALAKKAD: Mystery looms over the fire that broke out in the Thrithala High School building. School authorities have filed a complaint with the Thrithala police, seeking a thorough investigation into the incident. According to reports, three unidentified individuals were seen near the site, fueling suspicions of a deliberate act. The fire occurred at Dr K.B. Menon Memorial Higher Secondary School just days before the scheduled Plus Two and Class 10 examinations.
The fire broke out at around 2 PM on Saturday on the roof of the bus shed behind the school office. School principal Rajesh Ramachandran, office attendant Abdul Kabeer, and local residents acted quickly to douse the flames and prevent further spread. Shortly after, two fire units from Pattambi arrived at the scene and completely extinguished the fire. Suspicion arose when a half-burnt wooden log was found on the roof while putting out the fire.
Additionally, piles of dried leaves were found deliberately set on fire nearby. An elderly man who had come to graze his goats in the area reported seeing a group of three unidentified individuals near the building. The fire broke out very close to the room where answer sheets and higher secondary examination question papers are usually stored, and the school authorities are taking the incident very seriously.
