NEW DELHI: Suspense continues over BJP’s chief minister pick for Delhi as the party is all set to take power in the national capital after 27 years. On Saturday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah met with party general secretary B.L Santhosh to discuss the new CM face for New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave today for a four-day foreign visit. The oath-taking ceremony of the new Delhi cabinet will take place only after PM Modi's return to India.
PM Modi will visit both France and the US on his foreign trip that will last till the 13th of this month. BJP leadership is relaxed and in no hurry to pick a new Chief minister for the state. Meanwhile, it is reported that a special investigation team will be formed and ordered to look into the corruption of the Aam Aadmi government as soon as the new cabinet assumes office.
The name of Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, the giant slayer who defeated three-time Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is on top of the list of contenders for the CM post. Senior BJP leaders Vijender Gupta and Ashish Sood, Lok Sabha MPs Manoj Tiwari and Harsh Malhotra and former president of the party's Delhi unit Satish Upadhyay, Kapil Mishra, who triggered controversy with his vitriol during the Delhi riots and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a Sikh and national secretary of the party, are also under consideration.
If the leadership decides to have a woman Chief Minister, former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj's daughter and Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj will be the first choice while Shikha Rai and Rekha Gupta are also under consideration.
