PATHANAMTHITTA: Man who had married four times to relieve the pain of loneliness was trapped by the Facebook friendship of his wives. The man's deceit fell apart when his second and fourth wives became friends on Facebook. The man married four women saying he was lonely. He was taken into police custody on the complaint of the wives.

Deepu Philip (36), a native of Vellarikundu in Kasaragod district, and a resident of Tejas Flat in Konni Pramadam in Pathanamthitta district, was arrested after an extensive investigation by the Konni police. Deepu would approach women by telling them that he is an orphan and that his pain of loneliness would go away if he gets married. Deepu would suggest marriage, taking advantage of the sympathy of people who heard the story. This was his usual tactic. After living together for some time and fulfilling his sexual needs, Deepu would look for another victim.

Deepu's marriage series started ten years ago when he married a woman from Vellarikundu, Kasaragod. They have two children in this relationship. Then he took gold and money and abandoned his wife and children. After some time, Deepu went to Tamil Nadu with another woman from Kasaragod and lived together for some time before leaving there as well. He came to Ernakulam and got close to another woman after a while.

Deepu met the woman from Alappuzha through Facebook after this. Deepu married her in Arthungal. His second wife became friends with his current wife, a native of Alappuzha, through Facebook. That's when she saw a picture of her ex-husband with his current wife, the Alappuzha native. With this, the second wife explained all of Deepu's dirty tricks to her.

The Alappuzha native had felt that Deepu had lost interest in her and was about to abandon her after receiving the insurance amount of Rs 3.5 lakh in a case related to a previous car accident. Following this, they approached the Konni police with a complaint. Subsequently, a team led by Police Inspector P Sreejith arrested Deepu on Monday morning. He was remanded.
