KOCHI: More than a thousand cases registered in Kerala in the half-price scam will soon be handed over to the Crime Branch. Only 34 cases have been handed over so far.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has received information that the main accused Thodupuzha native Ananthu Krishnan had taken money as commission from scooter showrooms. He received Rs 5,000 for each scooter. Ananthu amassed more than Rs 7 crore in this way alone. This money was used to pay political parties and others.
Ananthukrishnan was remanded by the Muvattupuzha First Class Magistrate Court as his custody period had expired. He was produced in the court in the evening. While being taken to the court, Ananthukrishnan told the media that he had told the Crime Branch everything.
ED to question
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will conduct raids at more centres on the half-price scam. Those associated with the accused will be questioned. The ED will also take action to question the main accused Ananthakrishnan, who is on remand, after taking him into custody.
Sai Gramam Global Trust Chairman KN Anandakumar, Advocate Laly Vincent and others will be questioned. The ED has informed Laly Vincent that she should appear for questioning. Inspections will be conducted at various offices related to Ananthakrishnan in the coming days. Statements of more complainants have also been started.
