NAGPUR: Kerala-born Indian international cricketer Karun Nair is running the show in the current Ranji Trophy tournament. With 642 runs from 14 innings, Karun has been the trump card for the Vidarbha cricket team’s emphatic run in the tournament.
In the last nine matches, Karun scored five centuries and one half-century. Amidst his trailblazing form, a major question remains unanswered. When will Karun represent Kerala in the tournament? In a quick candid chat with a Malayalam media portal, Karun answered the query.
Despite being brought up outside, Karun never misses a chance to his hometown in Chengannur. Every three months, his parents would visit Kerala and their ancestral house. Caught up in the tight schedule, Karun had not been able to make it to the southern state this year.
“All my focus is on the Ranji trophy. Last time we reached the finals but luck didn’t favor us. This time, we are prepared. Before the tournament, I had requested the concerned officials my desire to play for Kerala but nothing came out of it. Will see if any new offer comes my way.
As of now, I want to make a mark with Vidarbha. If my game gets recognized, I shall dream of wearing the Indian jersey for one more time” said Karun.
