Actor and director P. Sreekumar revealed that Mohanlal and Mammootty are among the most humanitarian actors in Malayalam cinema. He stated that both of them always think about the well-being of others. However, he also noted that they have different approaches towards cinema. Sreekumar shared these insights in an interview with a YouTube channel.
"Prem Nazir was a legendary actor of Malayalam cinema. I was fortunate to interact closely with him and act alongside him. In my younger days, I had unknowingly said some idiotic things to him. At one point, kids used to call Prem Nazir 'Poovanpazham' (a type of banana). I told him about it, and he simply laughed. But if I had said the same thing to Sathyan sir, he would have been upset.
Sathyan sir was a person who always spoke the truth, and because of that, he got angry with me several times. That was how things were back then. But all of them were compassionate people who worked for the welfare of others. I see that same concern in both Mammootty and Mohanlal today. They are even more talented than Sathyan and Prem Nazir.
Mohanlal is like a younger brother to me. When he lived in Thiruvananthapuram, I was very close to his father. Mammootty and Mohanlal have sustained themselves in cinema for decades. They have a unique quality that others don’t. They never speak ill of anyone. Their only flaw is that they always strive to be number one. To maintain that position, they do many things.
They enjoy listening to jokes but never make unnecessary comments. Mohanlal is a naturally gifted actor, whereas Mammootty is someone who puts in immense effort to portray a character. Once he starts acting in a film, he constantly tries to understand his role better. I have not seen that trait in Mohanlal," Sreekumar said.
