ROME: Vatican officials confirmed on Saturday morning that Pope Francis remains in a stable but critical condition, stating that he had a calm night and is currently resting.
Until Friday afternoon, there had been noticeable improvement in the Pope’s health. However, his condition worsened suddenly due to breathing difficulties and vomiting, leading to respiratory distress. As a result, he was placed on ventilator support. Officials reported that he experienced no further complications yesterday and was able to have breakfast. Doctors have stated that the next 48 hours will be crucial.
Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 due to bronchitis. Further medical examinations later revealed pneumonia in both of his lungs.
