Drone flies over Kannur women's jail at night; circled two times

KANNUR: Unknown persons flew a drone over the high-security Kannur women's jail. The incident took place at around 11.15 pm on Saturday. The drone flew 25 meters above the office building inside the jail, posing a threat to prison security. The drone circled the building twice, flashing red and green lights, before disappearing.

The jail staff informed the superintendent about the incident. The superintendent then filed a complaint with the town police. It is not yet known who flew the drone. Drones are mostly flown for weddings or other celebrations. However, police say that no wedding or festival took place in the vicinity on Saturday. There is a district jail and a special sub-jail near the central jail. Behind this is the women's jail, which is surrounded by large walls.
