CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has taken a decisive step against the central government regarding the delimitation of constituencies. It has been decided to call a meeting of the Chief Ministers of seven states, including Kerala, to discuss the issue. He said that he has written a letter to the Chief Ministers and party leaders in this regard. The meeting will be held in Chennai on the 22nd of this month.
Stalin posted on 'X' that the 'delimitation' of parliamentary seats is a blatant assault on federalism. "This is a punishment for States that ensured population control & good governance by stripping away their rightful voice in Parliament. We are not going to allow this democratic injustice" said Stalin. There is a strong protest in Tamil Nadu against the delimitation of constituencies. Stalin is trying to raise protests on a national basis along with this.
Stalin said that he has written to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister S. Chandrababu Naidu, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and leaders of various parties in these states. Stalin's move is to form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to exert pressure against the delimitation of constituencies.
