KOLLAM: CPM is planning to reorganise the state committee to include newer generation in leadership. 15-20 members will leave from the 88-member state committee, taking into account factors such as the age limit of 75 and ill health. The decision is to make use of the experience of the leaders whilst also ensuring greater youth representation. There are also indications that some people will be removed from the existing committee due to their shortcomings in performance.
There has been indirect mention of the names of some leaders in the activity report, including those associated with the issue of factionalism in Karunagappally. Chandran Pillai (68) from Ernakulam is likely to be omitted on the grounds of ill health. Leaders who have not technically completed the age of 75 by January 2025 will be allowed to continue.
It is confirmed that those who have reached the age limit will be exempted from the list. These include A.K. Balan, P.K. Sreemathy, Anavoor Nagappan, P. Rajendran, K. Varadharajan, N.R. Balan, P. Nandakumar, M.M. Varghese, Gopi Kottamurikkal, S. Sharma, M.V. Balakrishnan, M.K. Kannan, C.M. Dinesh Mani, K. Rajagopal, and S. Rajendran. The new district secretaries K.V. Abdul Khader (Thrissur), V.P. Anilkumar (Malappuram), K. Rafiq (Wayanad), M. Mehboob (Kozhikode), and M. Rajagopal (Kasarcode) will be in the new committee.

Ramakrishnan, whose term ends in June, will be allowed to continue. The central leadership's permission is required to increase the number of secretariat members. The central leadership's position is that at least two out of the 17 should be women. Central committee members K.K. Shailaja, Adv. P. Sathidevi, and C.S. Sujatha are secretariat members. J. Mercykutty Amma, Dr. T.N. Seema, and K.S. Saleekha will be considered as new members. Minister M.B. Rajesh is likely to replace A.K. Balan. The names of M.V. Jayarajan, P. Jayarajan, and P. Sasi from Kannur are being actively heard. This is the last chance for P. Jayarajan to reach the state secretariat.
