PALAKKAD: Police have arrested a Bihar native from Kanjikode for the possession of ganja. The arrested person has been identified as Yasin Ansari (32) who has been permanently residing at Koyyamarakkadu in Kanjikode. He was arrested by the police on Saturday. The police also seized 1.7 kg of ganja from him.

Ansari came to Kanjikode 9 years ago seeking a job. He began his life in the region by doing small jobs. Later, he rented a shop and started a business by selling banned tobacco products to workers from other states. Eventually, he made a habit of selling ganja. He told the police that the ganja seized from his house was meant to be distributed to the workers. Ansari had bought land and built a luxury house in Kanjikode using the money earned by selling ganja. The police mentioned that he had been previously charged with drug-related cases. The accused was presented in court.
