Not only ganja, even condoms found; SFI member among held

KOCHI: The police and the DANSAF team conducted a seven-hour search in the boys' hostel of Kalamassery Government Polytechnic College. Many sights there were shocking to the officers. Packets of ganja were found on the shelf which was to store books and clothes.

In addition, liquor bottles, cigarettes and condoms were found there. Contraceptive condoms were found on the table. About two kilos of ganja were seized. The ganja was brought for Holi celebrations.

The police said the students kept the ganja for sale. When the police arrived for the search, the accused were measuring and weighing the ganja and transferring it into small packets. Later when the officers looked on the shelf, they saw two large bundles.

Narcotic Cell ACP Abdul Salam responded that he did not expect so much ganja to be in the hostel. The scales used to weigh the ganja have also been seized. Three students fled from the spot after seeing the police. The search for them has been intensified.

Adithyan of Alappuzha, Abhiraj and Akash of Kollam have been arrested in the case. Abhiraj is the general secretary of the college union won from SFI panel. The college principal responded that he will cooperate with the investigation.
