KOCHI: Akash, the accused arrested in the case of ganja seizure from the Kalamassery Polytechnic College hostel, has been remanded. The remand is for 14 days. The police will request the court for the custody of the accused to find the source of the ganja. The police said that a custody application will be filed soon.
Abhiraj and Adithyan were arrested apart from Akash but were released on station bail. The police said that they will be summoned again and questioned. All three students have been suspended from the college. A four-member teaching committee has also been appointed for the investigation. The remand report says that Akash sells ganja to students. The source of the ganja is being investigated.
The ganja was seized from the men's hostel of Kalamassery Polytechnic College last night. Two kilograms of ganja were found during a quick search by the police. It was found in two rooms. Two FIRs have been registered in the case. In the first FIR, Akash (21), a native of Kulathupuzha, Kollam, is the accused. 1.909 kilograms of ganja was recovered from Akash's room. Adithyan (21), a native of Haripad, and Abhiraj (21), a native of Karunagappally, are the accused in the second FIR. 9.70 grams of ganja was seized from their rooms.
