Mappilapattu artist dies in accident

KANNUR: A mappilapattu artist died in an accident involving cars. The dead is Faijas of Uliyil. The accident occurred on the Mysore state highway. The car carrying natives of Chakkarakallu collided with the car in which Faijas was travelling and going towards Mattanur. The front portion of the car in which Faijas was travelling has been completely destroyed in the accident.

Police and fire force arrived and after hours of effort pulled out Faijas trapped inside the vehicle. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. There were five people in the car carrying people from Chakkarakallu. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Kannur with injuries.

This is an area where accidents often occur. The road between Keezhoorkunnu and Punnad is steep. It is reported that vehicles travel at high speed here. There have been deaths in accidents in the area before this.
