KOCHI: More details have emerged in the ganja raid at Government Polytechnic College hostel in Kalamassery. The gang started buying ganja from middlemen six months ago. Students brought the item to the hostel seven times. They would deliver it at any time if demanded.
It is reported that the ganja was purchased at a cost of around Rs 10,000 per kilo. The same stuff was sold in the hostel for Rs 16,000. The transaction was through advance booking and offer rates. R S Anuraj (21) of Karunagapally and a third-year mechanical engineering student, who had collected money to buy ganja, was arrested yesterday. With this, the number of students arrested from the hostel in the ganja raid case has rose to six.
The police are also investigating about those who paid money to buy ganja. The police will examine the bank statement of Anuraj for this. Former students remanded and identified as Ashiq of Aluva Edayappram Konnakkad Mallisseri House and K S Shaliq (21) of Purayam Desham Kallukottil House, supplied ganja to the hostel as per Anuraj's request.
The investigation has been intensified for the West Bengal native suspected of selling ganja to Aashiq and Shaliq. He is likely to have left the place. It is learnt that the accused bought four kilos of ganja from him. The police have been able to find only two kilos. They are also investigating where the rest has been transferred.
They are also investigating whether the drugs were moved from here to other campuses. The search has also been extended to the person who called Akash's phone asking 'Are you Safe', the third-year student first arrested in the raid.
