Bomb threat search at Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate disturbs honey-bee hive, many stung in attack

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate receives a bomb threat. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) got the threat message via e-mail Tuesday afternoon. Following the threat, all employees of the collectorate were evacuated. Many including the bomb squad had arrived. In the meanwhile, the honey-bee hive behind the building got disturbed and stung many.

The bees attacked in such a way that the bomb squad was not even able to conduct a search.

There are many bee-hives at the back of the collectorate. The hive got disturbed when the dog squad was conducting a search. The bees attacked when many including the collector were being evacuated from the building following the threat.

Ordinary people, collector, sub-collector, policemen and media personnel, who were in the collectorate, were injured in the bee attack. The police informed that everyone in the building has been shifted to a safer place. The people were shifted in a KSRTC bus. The people stung were given first aid and taken to the hospital. There are still a large number of bees in the area.
