THRISSUR: Union Minister Suresh Gopi and Kerala Revenue Minister K. Rajan jointly inaugurated the Thrissur Pooram Exhibition, organized by the Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu Devaswoms on the eastern side of the Vadakkumnathan Temple grounds as part of the Pooram celebrations. This marks the 62nd edition of the exhibition jointly organized by both devaswoms. Though the Pooram Exhibition Committee had initially decided to have the Union Minister inaugurate the event, Minister K. Rajan also participated in the inauguration as per Suresh Gopi’s request. Both ministers together lit the traditional lamp to officially open the exhibition.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Suresh Gopi said that every Pooram enthusiast contributes to making Thrissur Pooram a grand event and added that this year’s Pooram is his first as a Union Minister, a role that comes with great responsibility. He wished for a vibrant and joyous festival season that brings happiness and prosperity to all. Minister K. Rajan assured that despite concerns, efforts would be made to organize Thrissur Pooram smoothly, ensuring maximum public participation without conflicts.
Mayor M.K. Varghese presided over the function. Minister R. Bindu, MLA P. Balachandran, Cochin Devaswom Board appointed President K. Raveendran, Deputy Mayor M.L. Rosy, Corporation Opposition Leader Rajan J. Pallan, councillors Poornima Suresh and Reji Joy, Pooram Exhibition Committee President K. Ravindranath, Secretary M. Ravikumar, Paramekkavu Devaswom President Dr. M. Balagopal, Secretary G. Rajesh, and Thiruvambady Devaswom Secretary K. Girish Kumar also spoke at the event.
Exhibition to begin in April
Though the inauguration is complete, the Pooram Exhibition will officially open in April. The aim is to start the exhibition on April 2. Preparations for the stalls are underway. Thrissur Pooram will be held on May 6 and 7. The exhibition will conclude by the end of May.
