‘Mammootty performing offerings in Sabarimala is wrong, should seek forgiveness and apologize to community’

Prominent journalist and political observer O Abdullah has come forward criticizing the offerings performed in Sabarimala by Mohanlal in Mammootty's name. In an audio message shared on social media, he said that if the offerings performed in Sabarimala was with Mammootty's consent, it is wrong according to faith and Mammootty should seek forgiveness. Mohanlal, who recently visited Sabarimala, performed Usha Pooja for Mammootty following news of his health issues. The receipt of this was widely circulated on social media. With this, O Abdullah came forward with a response.

'If it was with Mammootty's knowledge, he should seek forgiveness. He should apologize to the Muslim community. It was a serious lapse from the side of the actor. There is nothing wrong if Mohanlal had performed the offering without Mammootty's knowledge. Mohanlal's faith in Lord Ayyappa must be that high. He may have done it based on that faith. However, if the offering was performed with Mammootty’s directive, then it is a great crime. According to Islamic beliefs, no one should offer anything to anyone except Allah. This is a violation,' Abdullah said, quoting verses from the Quran.

Abdullah demanded that Mammootty need to explain this and that Muslim religious scholars should intervene in the matter. However, there is severe criticism against Abdullah on social media. Social media is asking who wrote the will of the Muslim community to you. One wrote that such statements by such people should be dismissed with the disregard they deserve and that no one should see this as a golden opportunity.
