ISLAMABAD: At least eight people were killed and several others injured in two separate terror attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan region. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The police have officially confirmed that the attack targeted non-Balochs and security personnel.
One of the attacks took place in Pasni, a coastal area in Gwadar district, where a passenger bus was ambushed. A group of around a dozen militants stopped the bus, identified non-local passengers, and executed them. This attack resulted in the deaths of six people. The BLA, which demands independence from Pakistan, was behind the assault.
The second attack occurred in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, where security personnel were targeted. An IED, attached to a motorcycle, exploded near a police vehicle, killing two people and injuring 17 others. Local sources suggest that the death toll from both attacks could rise further.
The escalating attacks by the BLA against military forces and non-Baloch individuals continue to pose a significant challenge for the Pakistani government. Earlier this month, militants hijacked a train named Jaffar Express, taking passengers hostage and executing several of them. Pakistan had previously accused India of supporting the BLA, an allegation that India has firmly denied.
