Female MBBS student found hanging in Kochi; police file case of unnatural death on death of Kasaragod native girl

KOCHI: An MBBS student from Kasaragod was found dead in the Ernakulam Government Medical College hostel. The incident took place on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as PP Ambili (25), daughter of Chandran and Geetha, natives of Nileshwaram Thadiyankovval. Ambili was a third-year MBBS student at the medical college.
In their statements to the police, other students who were staying in the hostel room with Ambili said that they had gone out at around 11 pm on Saturday night and found Ambili hanging when they returned. They immediately informed the college authorities and the police.

Following the incident, Kalamassery police have registered a case of unnatural death and have started a detailed investigation. The police are closely examining whether there is any mystery in the death. The cause of death is not clear. It is reported that Ambili had attempted suicide twice before. The body was handed over to the relatives after the postmortem.
