KOCHI: CPM MP K Radhakrishnan appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kochi for questioning related to the Karuvannur bank case. After the eight-hour session, he told reporters the ED sought clarifications on statements made by others in the investigation. He stated he had already submitted Aadhaar, PAN card, and bank account details earlier. Radhakrishnan clarified it was not a usual police interrogation and denied any CPM district committee deposits in Karuvannur Bank during his two-and-a-half-year term as Thrissur district secretary.
Radhakrishnan, held the position of CPM Thrissur district secretary from 2016 to 2018. During his tenure, the Karuvannur bank was under the administration of CPM members, and investigators believe that certain irregularities in loan disbursement may have taken place during this period.
He had previously requested extensions for the summons due to Parliament sessions and the CPM party congress in Madurai, which the ED accommodated. The agency enquired about party income and ties with the bank during his tenure as district secretary. Radhakrishnan confirmed no further summons were issued and dismissed rumours of being named an accused.
