Man tries to immolate wife in Kannur, arrested

KANNUR: A man was arrested in Kannur for trying to immolate his wife. The incident took place in Elayavoor, Kannur. Sunil Kumar, a native of Mavilayi, was arrested after he tried to attack his wife, Priya.

The attack took place yesterday evening. Priya was returning home when Sunil Kumar arrived in an auto-rickshaw and knocked her down. He then tried to set her on fire by pouring petrol. Luck fell on her side as Sunil’s gas lighter failed, giving her time to knock away the lighter and run for escape.

The couple was living separately for a long time due to petty family disputes.
