THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department issued a special alert over the "kallakadal" phenomenon in the coastal part of the state. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) informed of a possibility of sea erosion due to high waves of 1.1 to 1.4 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow.

The National Oceanographic Research Centre has also informed of a possibility of sea erosion due to high waves of 1.0 to 1.2 meters along the Kanyakumari coast till 11.30 pm tonight as part of the “kallakkadal" phenomenon.

The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen and coastal residents to be vigilant due to the possibility of sea erosion.

  1. As sea conditions are likely to worsen, residents should evacuate from danger zones as advised by authorities.

  1. Keep fishing vessels (boats, yachts) safely moored in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. The safety of fishing equipment must be ensured.

There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in isolated places in Kerala today. Rain is probable with thunderstorms in the district till April 18th. However, no rain warning has been issued in the district today.
