NEW DELHI: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that from May 1, vehicles will no longer need to stop at toll plazas, as a satellite-based toll collection system is set to be launched. The new system aims to ensure smoother travel and reduce traffic congestion on highways. The news was reported by national media outlets.

Gadkari stated that the new policy is part of the government's efforts to modernise road infrastructure across the country and improve the user experience. Under this system, vehicles will be tracked via satellites, and toll charges will be directly deducted from the bank accounts linked to the vehicles. He also noted that one of the goals behind this initiative is to save fuel.
