LUCKNOW: In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has dismantled a terror module plotting targeted killings and grenade attacks across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Two 20-year-old suspects, Tushar Chauhan (alias Hizbullah Ali Khan) and Samir Khan, were arrested following intelligence-led raids in Noida.
The duo was acting under the direction of Pakistan-based handlers, identified as Shahzad Bhatti and Abid Jatt, who are linked to the ISI. Tushar Chauhan had been radicalised over social media and was tasked with executing grenade attacks on political offices and specific individuals. Samir Khan was reportedly focused on expanding a radical cell named "Tehrik-e-Taliban Hindustan" (TTH) through recruitment and propaganda.
The investigation revealed a clear "pay-for-terror" model. The handlers promised Tushar a total of ₹3 lakh, with a ₹50,000 advance already discussed. Beyond money, the handlers assured the suspects safe passage to Pakistan via Dubai, including the facilitation of fraudulent travel documents.
The ATS seized a .32 bore pistol, five live cartridges, a knife, and two mobile phones. The devices contained incriminating data, including evidence of communication with individuals identified as "Major Hamid," "Major Iqbal," and "Major Anwar."
The suspects are currently booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The ATS is pursuing further leads to uncover any wider sleeper cell networks.
